NO-HASSLE ONE YEAR THAI VISA

Sorry folks, I was offering my services - to assist farang in obtaining legal, no hassle, no proof-of-money Thai visas, but reality struck and my naiveté wafted away faster than the aroma of a rose on smoggy Sukhumvit. Little tingles of paranoia crept up the back of my neck as I realized that if Thai government authorities got wind of a farang assisting other farangs with such a thing as securing Thai visas without hassles - that they (the Bangkok City Fathers) would be upset. Nothing irks a bureaucrat quite like the concept that regular people can circumvent their power nexus - and get things done simpler and cheaper. So, rather than be skewered at the stake by Thai authorities - for having the audacity to show my fellow farang visa-seekers how make their lives easier - I choose to withdraw my offer of assistance. So it goes.

One big irony in this scenario is the former top dog Thai Minister Purachai, who played a big part in making Thai visas very difficult to obtain (except by rich people) And yes, the same Minister Purachai who spearheaded the national campaign to mandate his holier-than-thou concepts of morality on everyone in the kingdom (only the campaign didn't put a dent into the debauchery that goes on night and day in places like Pattaya, Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai). So where does Khun Purachai go after he's made life miserable for multitudes of non-rich visa seekers and impure nightclub workers? To New Zealand - and you can bet your sweet bippy it's a lot easier for him to reside there (...buy a house, start a business, get residency), than he's made it for foreigners in his native country.
